Siheung Elementary School proposes the insertion of the football field in the very heart of the school organizing the various buildings around it. On ground level, the public uses such as cafeteria, library and administration are facing the sport field where in the second level a large green terrace links again all the buildings allowing a second playground for non-sport activities. This elevated playground acts as an extension to all the art and music classes allocated on the second level as well as an exterior circulation between programs.
The southern façades of the buildings contain a colorful brise-soleil to protect classrooms from direct sun while, at the same time, to break the repetitive rhythm of the windows consequence of the classroom’s layout.
