A number of valuable remains from the prehistoric city have been revealed recently in the city center of Pontevedra and the City had decided to build a public museum aroundthe ruins. A large structure that provides shelter to the ruins while accommodating all the supporting programs is the proposed museum. The roof’s mega structure is geometrically solved so that it touches the street level at some points creating a natural access to the roof and making it a public plaza.
The roof bends articulating the public space in various situations such as an elevated plaza with views or a tilted plaza for outdoor performance. The geometry also provides the necessary slope to collect and store rain water and to regulate the entrance of natural light and ventilation to the museum and ruins.
